Coming at a crucial time in the 5G rollout, the impact of the COVID-19/Wuhan Coronavirus on the electronics supply chain is real, expected to affect shipment targets and revenue.  Both Qualcomm and MediaTek have raised concerns about their 5G SoC shipment targets, with MediaTek predicting a potential 15% drop in global 5G phone-related shipments. In addition to the very real effect on factory operation, the inability to travel and hold scheduled in-person meetings is going to further dampen the launch of 5G. The most public example of that being the cancellation of Mobile World Congress 2020. How lasting and widespread the threat of COVID-19 will be is still unknown. However, the effects are beginning to influence industries today.
